Painting Frenzy March 30, 2010

Last weekend I was able to get away to Target and Hobby Lobby all by lonesome πŸ™‚ I felt like me head was spinning with all sorts of ideas while walking through Hobby Lobby. I ended up buying some paint and some scrapbook paper. Β I have plans for the scrapbook paper, just haven’t got to that project. I picked up the paint thinking that it would be an easy way to bring some color into the house. We rent and are unable to paint, so I’m trying to find ways to add color. I’m waiting to purchase some fabric for curtains, so I thought in the mean time I could whip something up. I figured, spending .38 on some paint, couldn’t hurt πŸ™‚ I ended up painting some frames that we had, I was bored with the plain black frames, so I went to town. For real, I went to town, I ended up painting 5 frames, plus I painted a mat as well! I really do love the way they turned out, not bad for .38 cents! I was trying to find a mat to go with our wedding picture, but the white was not looking right, then I remembered I had some black paint and painted the mat. I think it turned out pretty good! My next project is to makes something with the scrapbook paper, hopefully by next week I’ll have that one up πŸ™‚

I'm liking the way it looks somewhat distressed

this picture some how never got unpacked from this move, can't believe we've been married 5 years!

Getting Organized March 4, 2010

Filed under: DIY — meghanbreeze @ 5:56 AM

I spent most of the day yesterday getting our closets cleaned out and organized. It had been driving me crazy for awhile now, actually ever since we moved. I think that is b/c we have moved quite a bit in the past year or so and things just got all mixed up together. Plus, the hubs moved in before Torah and myself did, so he unpacked everything. I still don’t know where some things are! So, I began tackling our hall closet which had all of Torah’s clothes from the past 2 years! I was bound and determined to get them organized by months, it took pretty much all day. Thank goodness Torah was a great helper and played really well Β in her room all by herself. I have a massive stack of clothes to take to goodwill, mainly most of my old clothes that I had found. Can’t wait to get rid of those and tackle the garage! Going through Torah’s old clothes got me a little teary eyed at times. I can’t believe she is already 2 1/2! I still remember where she wore certain outfits, who bought her certain things and remembering my favorite items. Not to mention how tiny they were, and she was NOT a tiny baby, time just flies by and I can’t believe how big she is getting! I’m gonna end it here, b/c if I keep going I am going to get all teary eyed while writing. Hope everyone is have a great week, I’m looking forward to the weekend and getting our items to Goodwill!

the before pile and sadly this isn't all of it!

The after and can I just tell you how much I love the space bags! They fit so much stuff in them and take up hardly any room

My little DIY project

Filed under: DIY — meghanbreeze @ 5:09 AM

I’m not so sure you can call it a DIY, but I am happy with the turnout! I’ve been trying to make our house feel more like home, so I decided to start in the living room. Mainly b/c I knew it would be cheaper for one and a small task to start with. Plus, I feel like I spend half my time doing laundry or going through the laundry room to get the cleaning supplies πŸ™‚ Anyway, here is what I did. We have some blinds up already, but I wanted to add a little something more. So, while I target I found some cute cloth napkins that I liked. Then I thought, “hey, I think I could turn this into a valance!” So, I headed over a picked up a cheap rod and a few rings. In total, I think I spent $20, which is great. Plus, I can change out the “valance” anytime I want to for around $6! What do you think??
